Rotterdam based architectural studio MVRDV has designed the facade of townhouse and boutique in Amsterdam used a pioneering glass technology to replace the brick facade with a transparent replica. The Chanel Crystal House, the new flagship store in Amsterdam, looks amazing!
„Crystal Houses make space for a remarkable flagship store, respect the structure of the surroundings and bring a poetic innovation in glass construction,” said Winy Maas, one of the co-founders of MVRDV.„We said to the client, Let's bring back what will be demolished but develop it further”.

The entirely transparent façade of a high-end flagship store on Amsterdam’s upmarket shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, uses glass bricks, glass windows frames and glass architraves in a way to evoke the vernacular of the area with the goal to maintain the character of the site. The 620 square meters of retail and 220 square meters of housing unites the ambition of Amsterdam to have large distinctive flagship stores without compromising the historical ensemble. www.mvrdv.nl
