Vienna-based Ganz Neue Galerie presented works by its founding members – chmara.rosinke (Ania Rosinke and Maciej Chmara) – in an interaction with ceramics and porcelain designer Matthias Kaiser.
Ganz Neue Galerie doesn’t bow to functional dogma or aesthetic requirements. But equally its members don’t feel overly bound to honouring their self-styled manifesto either (“We simply want to make things that are so thought-out and crafted that they are deserving of your full attention”, says Maciej Chmara). Basically, they couldn’t care less about the latest fashion trends, good taste or the threat of terrorism. The project on display – Cucina futurista 2.0 – wages war against the supremacy of white plates and appeals to chefs around the world to start collaborating with designers. Having studied with an Iranian dervish for 13 years, master craftsman Matthias Kaiser has become known for imprinting his porcelain objects with a sense of mystery. www.chmararosinke.com, www.matthiaskaiser.com
